Chanukah #1 2026 Bondi Beach

50cm x 50cm Acrylic on Canvas

In Chanukah #1, I engage with colour, mark, and form to carry both loss and hope. The figures bear witness to those taken, the sand and the sea are in the painting, and the 4 floating Chanukiah in the sky affirm the light.

In the wake of the terror attack at Bondi Beach on the first night of Chanukah, when celebration and light were shattered by violence, Chanukah #1 emerged as both response and remembrance.

This painting is not merely a depiction of tragedy; it is, for me, an act of resilience. To affirm that light persists.
